The Blackfoot River area was on the route between the Great Plains and the Continental Divide. Native Americans referred to this route as the “River of the Buffalo Trail.” Capt. Meriweather Lewis and nine soldiers followed this trail on their return journey of discovery in 1806 after learning of the route from the Nez Perce of Idaho.
In 2008, the Milltown Dam was removed at the confluence spain email list of the Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers. After 100 years of damming, the Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers were flowing freely again, allowing people to float two rivers in one day.
“Every pasture lease is different, so it’s difficult to apply generalities for what should be included in a written contract,” the Sacrificers said. “There are many elements that need to be considered. I’m not telling people to consult with legal counsel to be selfish, but it can certainly help avoid problems down the road so that both parties cover all bases.”
For example, slaughterers explained that in a drought, the only way to receive drought assistance payments is if you have a written lease to prove your cattle were on that pasture. He also encourages producers to ask “what if” questions and determine who is responsible for what in an agreement.
