Article referring to the terms jailbreaking and rooting
What is the difference between “Jailbreaking” and “Rooting”?
Technically, they are the same procedure, and in both cases we can access our device as an administrator. While the term “jailbreaking” is used for devices with the iOS operating system, “rooting” is used for Android:
• Jailbreaking : This is the process by which we can remove the limitations belgium phone number data imposed by Apple on an iOS device. Once “jailbroken,” we can, for example, install third-party applications that are not in the AppStore.
• Rooting : This process allows us to obtain “ root ” access to the device, that is, to obtain “superuser” or administrator permissions, with which we will have access to the system without any type of restriction. One of its advantages is that we can give administrator permissions to an application, which will allow it to uninstall other apps or remove permissions, for example.
It is important to note that rooting is not a universal procedure, as is the case with jailbreaking for iOS. Rooting can vary from one device to another as there are different versions and manufacturers for Android devices.
What are its advantages?
The advantages of both procedures are similar and have a common goal: achieving more freedom and control over the device .
Advantages of rooting an Android device:

You can change the operating system to one of the many ROMs available, which gives you the freedom to update the Android version without having to depend on your operator or the manufacturer.
You can install advanced applications such as firewalls, call blocking, new keyboards, full backups, etc.
You can also delete applications pre-installed by the manufacturer or your operator that you do not use or that take up a lot of memory on your phone.
Performance will be substantially improved by removing pre-installed apps, moving apps to the SD card, and overclocking (exceeding the manufacturer's performance quotas, although this may result in loss of stability or shorter lifespan).
Advantages of jailbreaking an iOS device:
Allows you to install applications not permitted by Apple through different websites.
You can change the browser installed by default “Safari”, and install another one like “Chrome” or “Opera”.
You have more control over the operating system: custom themes, more icons, FaceTime calling over 3G, and more.
But, like any procedure that bypasses the restrictions imposed by the manufacturer, it has its risks and disadvantages, such as violating the manufacturer's warranty, or making it vulnerable to malicious applications to which you give administrative permissions.
