To this end, it was decided to interview 745 people who hold this position in leading companies in Spain in different sectors of activity. The surveys were carried out between May and June of this year.

Despite their different roles, the study highlights the importance of the “triumvirate” made up of the chief executive officer (CEO), the chief financial officer (CFO) and the corporate director of people: “the CEO defines or leads the vision and strategy; the CFO articulates and drives the people agenda and the CFO manages the financial resources and investments.”

“The role of the Chief People Officer is becoming increasingly complex and continually changing due to a wide range of factors, some of which have been accelerated by the current pandemic, including innovation and digital transformation largely driven by technology; artificial intelligence, automation of many processes, the changing profile of the workforce, new ways of working and the new focus on talent,” the study notes.
