Fleury: Laboratory suffers attack, website goes offline

"Laboratory states that 'database is intact' and that it continues to operate normally in its physical units. Website says there was a ransomware attack, but the company has not yet confirmed this."

Part of the Fleury Group system remained iceland mobile database on Thursday morning (24), two days after the hacker attack. The company said it had restored services in hospitals and continued to serve patients in its physical units.

“We reiterate that our database is intact and we emphasize that there is no evidence of any leak of data or sensitive information,” the company said.

The website “Bleeping Computer”, which specializes in cybersecurity news, published that “several sources” confirmed that the Fleury Group had been attacked by a ransomware virus.

G1 asked the company last Tuesday (22), when the attack was announced, if the systems were hit by a ransomware virus, but received no response .

According to “Bleeping Computer”, the criminal group REvil (also known as Sodinokibi) would be behind the action, which would ask for around US$ 5 million to unlock access and not leak customer information – this same organization would have been responsible for the cyber attack on JBS.

Some pages on the website, such as the exam results page, displayed errors and were still inaccessible at around 12:30 pm this Thursday.

In a statement, Grupo Fleury said it is working with an audit to certify the process of reestablishing service operations.

Hospitals

The cyberattack that took Grupo Fleury's systems offline put the 29 hospitals served by the diagnostic medicine group, such as Hospital Sírio-Libanês and 14 units of Rede D'Or São Luiz, on a manual or contingency service regime for carrying out exams, reported Valor Econômico.

In a statement, Sírio-Libanês reported that, while Fleury gradually reestablishes its services, teams from its institutions “are working quickly to resolve possible delays in exams”.

Since the beginning of the cyberattack, the hospital has reported that it has been receiving assistance through a contingency system that allows laboratory tests to continue to be carried out.
