If your Facebook feed makes your eye twitch and the word "crisis" makes you faint, this post is for you. Facebook evangelist Eva Katz explains how to create your own alternative news feed and share it with others.
The goal: to get the perfect Facebook news feed that will display all the content from interesting pages and people. Without unnecessary, negative information.
Solution one: click on every unpleasant post until you turn blue list of japan cell phone numbers in the face, “I don’t want to see this,” and wait for Facebook’s algorithm to take pity on you and adjust the feed to your preferences.
Minus: does not guarantee that you will see all the updates of the pages and people you are interested in. Political propaganda with hate speech, false information, nastiness about the crisis (already known without you), century-old photos of tortured animals, hell and sodomy will seep through the posts of friends with cats like parasites.
Plus: you can find unexpected diamonds in a pile of manure.
Solution two: install filters for Facebook. These are programs for browsers. I tested several. Half of them hang the browser, half don't work with the Russian language. I didn't find the ideal option.
Solution three: make your lists of interests, like playlists in a player. The principle is like in good old GoogleReader.
Pros:
Create feeds based on your interests and mood.
You can add people and pages to each of them. You don't have to like these pages or subscribe to people.
You can separately configure the types of updates that you are interested in. For example, only photos.
All posts from these people and pages are displayed, rather than selectively, as in the standard feed.
I created four sheets for myself:
Alternative feed - there are all the pages and people that are interesting to me, who definitely don't have politics and hell. This is a feed for every day.
Girls' rags, recipes, beauty and pink unicorns.
Marketing is a working hardcore, portals and people who write interestingly on the topic of marketing and advertising on the Internet. This is a feed with professional information.
Chitaki - magazines, interviews, interesting "reading".
You can open your feeds to everyone, share them or show them only to a limited circle of people. For example, I shared the Marketing feed and the Alternative feed with Pasha Katz, he will see all the updates and follow these feeds.
How to create your own feed?
In the left column of your page there is a button "Interests". Go to it and fall to the page where you will be asked to create a list.
Create, select the pages you are interested in from the suggested ones and move on.
After selecting privacy settings, a new feed will be displayed. A list will appear on the right, where you can add more pages and people from the search. Have fun, add.
After that, you can share the feed with friends or open them only for close friends.
To avoid losing the feeds, go to the "Interests" tab again, click on the settings gear and select "Add to favorites".
That's it, you have wonderful alternative feeds with only the news that interests you, which you can share with friends and colleagues. And you'll be surprised how much good content passed by
