The newsroom was perhaps one of the biggest hypes of 2018 in the field of government communication. However, there still appear to be many misconceptions about the newsroom. We highlight four in this article.

While the word of 2018 will be announced on 18 December , we in the field of telegram data government communication would like to nominate the 'newsroom' as hype of the year. Especially because this subject is very much alive among communication professionals, particularly within municipalities. It is even starting to take on almost mythical proportions. Mention the newsroom and everyone is spontaneously enthusiastic. But when we ask further, it turns out that the newsroom is open to many interpretations. There appear to be different opinions about it, but also misunderstandings.

To clear up a misunderstanding: we certainly do not want to downplay the importance of the newsroom. On the contrary! So this is really about a different way of working, not about the fact that you have a room with a sign saying 'newsroom' on the door.

Achieving a higher purpose
