Borrowed from the English language, the term “lead” denotes a potential client of a company who has shown interest in goods or services. Interest can be expressed in registering on a website, requesting a call, downloading a document or demo version of a product.

Today we will delve into the concepts of leads and student database lead generation. We will consider what it is, how it works and why it is needed.

Who is a lead?
As we have already found out, a lead is a potential client of the company who has shown interest. A lead in the company's database can be either a full questionnaire with all the information, or just a name or email. Leads can be "hot" and "cold". Hot leads show the most active interest and should be processed as soon as possible so as not to miss a sale.

Cold leads usually require additional work before they become customers. This could be a newsletter subscription, targeted advertising, a phone call with a sales representative, or keeping the user on the site.

Lead processing (or qualification) involves contact with company employees and is carried out in order to determine the level of interest in the product and understand the client’s pain points and requirements.

Increasing the quantity and quality of leads is the most important task of the marketing department, as it directly affects sales and revenue. Lead generation is a strategic activity, and we will dwell on it in more detail.
