Trends in the e-book market

2020 was a great year for the e-book sector , as sales of this format experienced an exceptional rise after eleven consecutive years of increases. This is the main conclusion of the 2020 'Annual Digital Book Report' published by Libranda , a distributor of Spanish-language digital publishing content worldwide.
Compared to 2019 figures, this growth was 37% worldwide and 43% in Spain. Overall, the digital share in Spain reached 7.3%, but when it comes to new releases this figure ranges between 15 and 25%, and some titles were number database even read in their digital version 40% of the time.
The Spanish-language e-book market generated 115.7 million euros , not including textbooks and academic books. Of this amount, 75 million correspond to Spain and 40.7 to the rest of the countries, a list headed by Mexico (11.2% in euros) and the United States (9%). In this regard, it is worth highlighting that Uruguay, Ecuador, Guatemala and Peru have had even greater growth than in the case of Spain.
