December has arrived and with it comes the count of everything we have or have not achieved during the year. We review those New Year's resolutions that we made almost 365 days ago, eating grapes, to fulfill during the following 12 months, and we take stock. With this retrospective often comes self-demand and reproaches for why we did not achieve this or that, there may also come the occasional pat on the back, to tell us what we did achieve, but surely there are many fewer of these pats of recognition because we tend to see more the negative, what we did not achieve, than what we did get ahead. We tend to act more with guilt than with the value of what we were able to do.
If we look at it from an HR perspective, we can say that December is a great personal coach that helps us reflect on all those goals and New Year's resolutions that we want to achieve, it helps us take stock of what we've experienced and even makes us remember those people we love and that in the rush of life we forget to tell them that we love them and, why not, also pat them on the back for what they've achieved this year. I recommend you read: Build your professional goal .
So, as a great coach for us, December can become a great ally: take advantage of it and set those goals that you want to achieve for these next 12 months. Be realistic , set goals where you can quantify results and don't wait until next December to evaluate how you are doing. Keep track of how that list is going from time to time in case you need to make adjustments and be on time to do so; Let's not wait until the end of the year to reproach ourselves; let's use the pats on the back more often and this will give us a boost to continue achieving our goals.
Keep your New Year's resolutions
