Common Reasons for Shopify Abandoned Payments

Let's explore three different methods you can use to fix abandoned payments in Shopify.

Send Payment Reminder Emails to Customers in Shopify
Shopify allows you to manually send a cart reminder email to remind customers about items they abandoned.

Let's see how to do this step by step.

Step 1: In your Shopify Admin panel, go to the 'Orders' section. Click the 'Payment Abandonments' tab from the list.

Step 2: In the 'Payment Abandonments' section, you will see various abandoned payments. From this section, select the cart number you want to recover.

Step 3: From the 'Customer' section, you can access the customer's details. Find the email address among the information provided and click on it.

Step 4: Now you have the option to add a custom message. If you want, you can change the template provided in the notifications section.

Step 5: First, go to “Notifications” and click on “Customer Notifications” in the Settings. Then, click on the “Customize email templates” button to set up your email templates.

Step 6: Find the email template you want to customize. On the customization page, you can add your brand logo and adjust the appearance of the buttons to match your brand.

💡Remember the content of the email. Include a compelling subject line, a friendly reminder of the products customers forgot, a link to complete the purchase, and maybe a small discount.

Once you are done customizing, click the "Save" button and check the preview of the email under the customization options before proceeding .

Step 7: Once you are satisfied with the email template and its preview, you can return to the previous screen to review the final version.

Once you have reviewed your email, simply click the "Send Email" button to send the payment reminder email to the customer.
