Usually in scientific journals we deal with not very long UDC indexes. But for clarity, let's try to decipher a more complex example - a composite one with determinants.

781.7 – Theory and forms of national music of individual peoples and countries;
(519.5) – South Korea (5 – Asia, 51 – Central and East Asian countries, 519 – Korea);
(02.068) – Rare books (02 – Books in general);
=131.1 – Italian language (1 – Indo-European languages, 13 – Romance languages, 131 – Italo-Romance languages).
We receive "A Rare Book on the Theory of Forms of National Music of South Korea in Italian".

What is GRNTI and why does a scientist need it?

The same abbreviation with the digital index can be found in the description of monographs or in footnotes on the first pages of scientific articles. We are often asked what it means. Why do we need ISBN?
It is possible to print a book without an ISBN. But it is impossible to publish it. A book without an ISBN number (or with a "fraudulent" number) differs from sheets printed on a home printer only by its beautiful cover. There is little point in such a book.
