Apple lifted the curtain on its artificial intelligence (AI) features a couple of weeks ago , and these new features promise to forever change the way we use iPhones, iPads and Macs. However, these much-hyped AI features will take longer to reach the European Union (EU) than initially anticipated.

The Cupertino company has now announced that Apple Intelligence (which is the name given to its new AI features) will not be arriving in EU countries for now.

Apple cites uncertainties directly related to the EU's new Digital Markets Act (DMA) as reasons for the delay in introducing Apple Intelligence on the old continent . The company led by Tim Cook is particularly concerned that the opening up to technology from other manufacturers and suppliers required by the DMA could eventually compromise the protection of its users' data.

Apple's unique approach to AI is that the technology is primarily leveraged on the device bangladesh whatsapp list that users use, and that is where it compiles most of the data. In this way, Apple Intelligence is, for example, able to quickly summarize emails or respond very quickly to the question of when a visiting relative's flight will land.

Apple's new AI features likely won't be available in the EU until 2025
The problem is that the DMA requires large platforms such as Apple, which are known as gatekeepers, to guarantee access to other providers and not to favour their own products and services . There is, however, an exception to the rule if granting access to other providers ultimately endangers the “integrity” of the gatekeeper’s services.

It is not clear, however, whether the European Commission will accept Apple's concerns about data security as an argument for applying such an exception to the rule.

Beyond Apple Intelligence, there are other features presented by the Cupertino company at its last annual conference of developers (WWDC) that will also be affected by the delay in its launch in Europe . This is the case of the "iPhone Mirroring" function, which gives the user full access to their iPhone from a Mac computer.

Apple stresses that it is currently in talks with the EU to find a solution to the problem , as it wants its new AI features to be available in Europe as soon as possible. However, these features are not expected to arrive in Europe this year and to benefit from them, it will be necessary to wait at least until 2025.

In the rest of the world, Apple will launch beta versions of new software this summer and make it available to all users in the fall.
