Karla and Carolina are the founders of Maíx Pak'ik , a healthy snack sales company that looks beyond. They have developed a logistics and distribution model that generates employment opportunities for young people.

Through this snack, young people sell in their cities and generate extra income, in addition to putting into practice soft skills that will make them more competitive in the market and receiving training and follow-up from the team on Business and Entrepreneurship issues.

We spoke with its founders about the origins of the project, how it has evolved bahamas business email list time and what future plans they have for their venture.

Interview with Karla and Carolina, founders of Maíx Pak'ik
What is Maíx Pak'ik and what does it offer its customers?
At Maíx Pak'ik we have developed a logistics and distribution model in which we generate self-employment opportunities for young people through the sale of a gluten-free, sugar-free and oil-free snack suitable for people with diabetes or those on a vegan diet.

Through this snack, young people sell in their cities and generate extra income, in addition to putting into practice soft skills that will make them more competitive in the market and receiving training and follow-up from the team on Business and Entrepreneurship issues.

How and when did the project come about?
It all started in the University cafeteria. Carolina, one of the co-founders, is passionate about sports and has always sought to eat things that have a positive impact on her health. She found a product that she loved and asked for it for personal consumption. When she took it to school, many people asked for it, so she started selling it. Carolina would arrive with her basket full of products and leave empty.

Karla, another of the co-founders, noticed this and saw a business opportunity. One day in 2020, they met in the university cafeteria during one of the breaks to find a way to work together.

Although at the beginning the relationship between the two was just that of a supplier-client, months later an event occurred that changed everyone's lives completely: the pandemic.

A lot of competition began to emerge and people lived in an environment of uncertainty, researching the products they consumed more than ever.

At that moment, they had one of the thousand and one uncomfortable conversations on which a business is built, they asked themselves if what they were doing was a hobby or if they envisioned making this something formal in the future, and they began, and since that day the story continues to be written.

How did you get started and what barriers did you encounter when starting out?
We believe that our biggest barrier when we started was combining studying with entrepreneurship: becoming experts in organizing and making the most of our time to prepare ourselves in theory while building on practice. In addition, we became experts in subjects that we were not.

Being in the first years of university, we had to anticipate all the legal, accounting, and other topics before seeing them in the classroom.

What are your customers like? What defines them?
Our Ambassadors, who distribute the product in their Cities, are proactive young people, leaders in the communities and spaces in which they develop, they do more than average, they detect opportunities where others would not see them, they are creative, they love learning new things and teaming up with others, they see problems as challenges and are passionate about every “yes” they say.
