What is DMO? What is the difference between the overseas version and the Japanese version

Post by moniya12 »

Representative organizations involved in tourism-related activities include DMOs and tourism associations.

DMO stands for "Destination Management Organization" and is an organization that supports tourist destinations and the tourism industry in local areas through public-private collaboration.

DMOs became mainstream overseas before they did in Japan. Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), which have developed mainly in Europe and the US, had their framework defined by the World Tourism Organization in 2007.

On the other hand, tourist associations were organizations established during the Meiji period with the aim of preserving cultural heritage, scenic beauty, and famous places, and their names gradually changed from "preservation societies" and "scenery associations" to the current name "tourism associations."

Tourism associations come in various forms, including incorporated uganda consumer email list associations, foundations, and voluntary organizations. Tourism associations work in cooperation with local governments, accommodation facilities, and other tourism-related businesses to promote regional development and act as a source of tourism information.

The concept of DMO differs slightly between Japan and overseas. From here, we will explain the difference between overseas and Japanese versions of DMO before touching on the differences between DMOs and tourism associations.
