“We read the rumors about … but we can’t confirm anything yet. Press conference will follow.”
Or words to that effect. Reacting is more important than answering.
YouTube
Create your own YouTube crisis channel as an organization and link it to your site. Of course, it can also be exclusively on your own shadow site/page, but there is a chance that others will then 'tinker' with your video. With your own YouTube channel, the right information will at least be on this very important search engine.
In terms of video content: you can choose to film the CEO of your organization himself and have him comment or analyze the crisis. Vodafone did this in April during the major network outage. The CEO explained the situation - in English - on their own corporate Vodafone site and on their own YouTube channel. Not the most charming (make sure you have good media training beforehand, always start with empathy), but the idea was right.
If you build in the video option, you obviously need a good camera and people who know how to operate the equipment. Reliability is also radiated by professionalism. Those iPhones with 'witness reports' are nice, but for a corporate image and official news, a no go. Also, don't put witness videos of exploding things or accidents in your own news room . If a crisis allows it, make your own videos about the situation.
Live stream
If necessary, announce the press conference to be held and if it takes place: stream it live on the internet. The press conference can always be watched later.
Press release
Odfjell, the tank storage company in Botlek that 'leaked', deals with the crisis on its own website with a press release. Among the other press releases with the successes of the company, it can be read that the director has been dismissed with immediate effect. The classic method, but due to the lack of information and openness, the press tunisia phone data then speculates about the reasons. Twitter users vent their hearts about the dismissal. If you are a Dutch celebrity, you can issue a press release when the flow of messages starts. Estelle Gullit/Cruijff is under fire because she allegedly made a false statement about her new boyfriend Badr Hari who allegedly assaulted a man. The press and Twitter are feasting on it. And not positively.
Left
Place links if you are interviewed by NOS Journaal or RTL for example. Or if it is a reliable item. This way you can bundle the good information yourself on your own shadow site/page.
Ensure your own reliability and leadership in a crisis by bundling good information quickly and especially yourself in an online news room on a shadow site or page. With good communication you will overcome a crisis faster and prevent a lot of reputation damage.
